Help Equip the Truckee River PBA — More Good Fire Starts Here
The Truckee River Prescribed Burn Association (PBA) is raising funds for a dedicated Prescribed Fire Equipment Trailer to support community-led prescribed burning, wildfire preparedness, and forest health projects throughout the Truckee River region.
Prescribed fire is one of the most effective tools available for reducing hazardous fuels, improving forest health, restoring fire-adapted landscapes, and helping communities become more resilient to wildfire. But putting good fire on the ground safely takes more than willing landowners and volunteers—it requires the right equipment, protective gear, and tools ready to deploy when burn conditions are right.
Our Goal: A Fully Equipped Prescribed Fire Trailer
Funds raised through this campaign will help the Truckee River PBA purchase and outfit a mobile equipment trailer that can be used during prescribed burns, training events, and community projects.
The trailer will help us safely store, organize, transport, and deploy essential prescribed fire equipment, including:
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Drip torches and ignition equipment
- Hand tools and fireline tools
- Backpack pumps and water-handling equipment
- Fire hoses, fittings, and suppression equipment
- Radios and communications equipment
- Fire weather monitoring equipment
- First-aid and emergency supplies
- Traffic and safety equipment
- Other tools needed to safely conduct prescribed fire operations
A Community Resource
This trailer will be more than a place to store equipment. It will become a mobile prescribed fire resource for our community, helping landowners and practitioners work together to safely accomplish prescribed burns.
Having equipment organized and ready to deploy will allow the Truckee River PBA to better support burn projects when the weather, fuels, permits, and available personnel align. Those burn windows can be limited, and having equipment ready can make the difference between completing a project and missing an opportunity.
The trailer will also support hands-on training and provide community members with opportunities to gain experience working with prescribed fire.
